Dear WiB Community,

As December arrives, we know this time of year can feel both exciting and overwhelming. With finals approaching, we want to gently remind everyone that your mental health matters just as much as your academic success. Prioritizing rest, balance, and small moments of joy will not only support your well-being, but also help you show up as your best self during this busy season. Whether that looks like taking a mindful break, connecting with a friend, or stepping away from your desk, please remember that caring for yourself is never something you need to earn, it is necessary and deserved.

This past month has been nothing short of inspiring. Our Female Founders Forum was one of our most successful events yet, bringing together trailblazing Women who have built remarkable ventures from the ground up. Their honesty, resilience, and creativity sparked meaningful conversations for everyone in the room. Thank you to every member who showed up with curiosity, asked thoughtful questions, and helped make the night truly unforgettable.

We also officially launched WiB in the Community, our newest initiative dedicated to giving back beyond campus. For our first-ever volunteer session, our members spent an afternoon at WINS Thrift Store, sorting donations and supporting an organization that uplifts women and families in Calgary. Seeing our community show up with such enthusiasm and kindness was a beautiful reminder of the impact we can create together.

As we look ahead, we're excited to give everyone a much-needed break from studying with our final event of the semester, a trip to cheer on the Calgary Hitmen on December 7th for their mid-afternoon game! It's the perfect opportunity to de-stress, recharge, and enjoy a fun afternoon with friends before diving into finals.

As we enter these last few weeks of the semester, celebrate how far you've come.

You've worked hard, you've grown, and you deserve moments of rest and gratitude.

We are cheering for you, in your exams, your goals, and your well-being.

With gratitude and excitement,

Emma & Elizabeth

2025-2026 Co-Presidents

WiB Wrapped: November Edition

Our November events were so much fun! Students came together for a month filled with connection, learning, and conversations that highlighted the power of women supporting women.

This month, our Female Founders Forum brought together an incredible panel of entrepreneurs who shared honest insights about building their companies, navigating uncertainty, and finding confidence in their own voices.

Attendees heard stories of resilience, strategic risk-taking, and the realities of growing a business from the ground up. The event sparked meaningful dialogue, encouraged students to explore their own entrepreneurial ideas, and reminded us all of the strength that comes from a community of women lifting each other up.

Finally, we capped off the month by volunteering at WINS, where our WiB members teamed up to support women and families in need across Calgary.

WiB World Report

  • Alberta Job Market Shows Small but Steady Improvement

    • Alberta’s employment numbers ticked upward heading into winter, with modest gains in full-time roles across business services, transportation, and retail. While the province’s unemployment rate remains higher than the national average, economists note that hiring activity is slowly strengthening — positive news for students preparing for co-op and summer internship recruitment.

  • National Housing Market Shows Signs of Cooling

    • After months of elevated prices, Canada’s housing market began to show early signs of stabilizing in December. Several major cities reported slower price growth and increased supply, giving economists cautious optimism about improved affordability next year. This shift is expected to influence everything from interest-rate decisions to rental trends for students.

  • Canadian Airlines Expand Winter Travel Routes

    • Canada’s major airlines have expanded domestic and international routes for the winter season, responding to strong travel demand as the holidays approach. Increased flights to sun destinations, cross-country routes, and business hubs signal continued recovery in the travel sector.
